How EpsteinScan™ handles your data and respects your privacy
Analytics
EpsteinScan™ collects basic analytics including search queries, document views, and page visits. This data is used solely for site improvement and does not include personal identification.
Newsletter
Email addresses are stored only for users who voluntarily subscribe to the newsletter. Subscriber emails are never sold, shared, or provided to third parties.
Cloudflare
This site uses Cloudflare as a CDN and security provider. Cloudflare may collect standard web traffic data (IP addresses, request headers) in accordance with their own privacy policy.
User Accounts
EpsteinScan™ offers optional user accounts for enhanced features (bookmarks, CSV export, AI search). When you create an account, we collect your email address and a bcrypt-hashed password. We never store plaintext passwords. Account creation is entirely optional — the core document archive remains freely accessible without an account.
Payment Processing
Paid subscriptions (Pro and Unlimited tiers) are processed securely by Stripe. We never store, process, or have access to your credit card numbers. All payment data is handled directly by Stripe in accordance with PCI-DSS standards. We retain only your Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your plan.
Search Usage
AI search counts are tracked per user to enforce plan limits. Search queries are logged for analytics and service improvement. This data helps us understand research patterns and improve search quality, and is not shared with third parties.
Cookies & Tracking
EpsteinScan™ uses session cookies for user authentication (Flask-Login). These cookies are essential for keeping you logged in and are not used for advertising or third-party tracking. Local storage is used for your theme preference (light/dark mode). We do not serve third-party advertising or use tracking pixels.
Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account remains active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us. Upon deletion, your email, hashed password, bookmarks, and search history will be permanently removed from our systems.
